Mindfulness Facilitator
Teacher Roles:
Lead Facilitator - Coordinates the group, works directly with the unit chaplain or contact, sets the schedule, determines curriculum, leads group discussions, meditations, and teachings.
Co-Facilitator - Supports the lead facilitator, fills in when lead is unable to attend, provides assistance as requested by the lead facilitator.
Volunteer - No obligations or responsibilities, can sit in on a group as an observer.
Minimum Requirements:
Lead Facilitators - Must be experienced meditation and mindfulness practitioners with at least 5 years of daily meditation practice and preferably a great deal of time spent under the instruction of other teachers.
Co-Facilitators - Must have at least one year of meditation and mindfulness practice.
Volunteers - No meditation or mindfulness experience is necessary.
In addition to mindfulness experience, strong boundaries are important. All must be able to pass a criminal background check* (doesn’t mean you have to have a clean record)
Facilitator Opportunities:
Jails and Prisons (currently unavailable due to COVID and/or guard shortage)
We seek experienced meditators to lead or co-lead Introduction to Meditation and ongoing mindfulness groups at adult jails and prisons.
Meditation classes are typically 1-2 hours in length, plus additional driving, depending on the facility.
Commitment: 2-5 hours per month (or more, depending on interest)Current Needs:

Intro to Mindfulness for Men: Tuesdays at 9am (1-2 co-leaders)
Intro to Mindfulness for Women: Wednesdays at 9am (1-2 co-leaders)
Intro to Mindfulness for Men (2): Thursdays at 2pm (1-2 co-leaders)
Free World
Beginning in 2021, CWFA will begin programs for organizations in the free-world. We seek experienced meditators to lead or co-lead introductory mindfulness classes. These programs also run 1-2 hours in length, plus additional driving, depending on the facility.
Commitment: 2-5 hours per month (or more, depending on interest)Current Needs:
Salvation Army Women’s Shelter, Little Rock; Thursday evenings at 5:30pm (1-2 co-leaders)
Hidden Creek Men’s Reentry Center, Little Rock; M/W/F 3:00-4:00PM (1-2 co-leaders)
Hope Rises Women’s Reentry Center, Little Rock; Yoga instructors (1-2 co-leaders)
Psychoeducation Instructor
CWFA leads psychoeducational groups (e.g. Conflict Resolution, Acceptance and Commitment Training) in Arkansas prisons and jails. We seek experienced mental health professionals to lead or co-lead psycho-ed groups at adult jails and prisons. Classes are typically 1-2 hours in length, plus additional driving, depending on the facility.
Commitment: 2-5 hours per month (or more, depending on interest)
